Places You Should Visit Before You Join Your Ancestors

Findings has proven that people are happier when they spend money on experience rather than when they spend on buying material things.

This is very true in that when you spend money on experience it creates more happiness by availing you positive personal interpretation over time I.e., when we recall the memories of places we have visited, we have tendency of psychologically riding our minds of bad/negative memories(if there are any). A good experience also becomes a meaningful part of ones identity and contributes to successful social relationships of course in a manner that material items may not. On that note, I share with you some interesting places you should make a point of duty to visit before you depart this earth..

MUSEUM; No 1 on my list is a Museum and I will start by briefly explaining what a museum is. A museum is an institution that cares for a collection of artifacts and other objects of artistic, cultural, historical or scientific importance. There are many types of museum, including art museums,

Natural history museums, War museums and Children museums.

In Nigeria, there are many museums such as the national gallery of modern art, Lagos, national museum of colonial history, Aba, Slave trade museum Calabar, War museum, Umuahia, e.t.c.

If you are financially buoyant, you could still visit some of the world’s largest museums such as The Louvre in Paris, The National Museums of China in Beijing, Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City, Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C and The Vatican Museums in Vatican city. The knowledge and experience we get when we visit a museum is something that will remain indelible in our minds, trust me.

ZOOLOGICAL GARDEN/PARK (ZOO):  This is a facility in which all animals are housed within enclosures, displayed to public and in which they also breed. There are over 101 reasons why you should visit the zoo soon, most of us had our earliest memories of some species of animals as far back as kindergarten, we heard about lions, elephants, zebra, e.t.c. and probably saw their pictures on text books and other learning materials but, we rarely haven’t had the opportunity of seeing these animals in real life?.

Permit me to share this experience I had with you. Growing up in the south east of Nigeria, I learnt about the animal chameleon, that has the adaptation feature of changing colors to blend with its immediate environment, I never saw what it looked like in fact, the picture I had in my head for years of what a chameleon Looks like is something big as a crocodile not until I traveled to Sokoto state, north west of Nigeria. The very day I saw a chameleon, I was so marveled, it was so beautiful but smaller than the picture I was having in my head for years of what a chameleon looked like.

I was so happy seeing a chameleon for the first time that I asked if I could capture it for myself and train it so I could go back to south east with it. On lookers were very surprised at my reaction because to them a chameleon is something that is common around them and so I was given the express permission to take it with me. I was with the little creature for over 4 hours until the thought of how I was going to be feeding it and the rest dawned on me, I had to let it go instead of starving it to death.

I can tell you that the feeling of seeing a chameleon as it changes colors is something that will be with me for a very long time, it was indeed fascinating!. Now imagine the feeling you get when you eventually see some of those animals that you have always had their picture in your head but never got to see them in real life….

BEACH: And so basically a beach is said to be a narrow, usually gently sloping body of water such as a lake or ocean. There are of course different types of beaches such as tropical beaches,  rocky beaches and the most common and widely visited for recreational purpose,  Classic sandy beaches. Beaches could be wild(undeveloped, undiscovered) or developed, having man-made infrastructure, such as shacks and bars,  resort, camps,  hotels and restaurant, life guard post e.t.c., to enhance visitors experience. The waves or current action of a beach water is something that is so fascinating and will no doubt leave you with a life changing experience!.

AIRPORT:Some of us have had the opportunity to fly maybe,  once or more,  some fly like twice a week and the experience is something that has become part of them. No disrespect but,  majority are yet to stand like 2 blocks away from a parked aeroplane/jet or even Helicopter not to talk more of being on board! The idea of going to an airport for "sight seeing" or experience is a total nonsense for most people, but, the truth is that it doesn't make you less a person if you take out time probably with your family or loved ones to visit a local airport rather, it builds your social relationship. A child self esteem is boosted when he/she is exposed to this type of life changing experience....
Make plans and visit at least one of these places and have that life changing experience before you join your ancestors!.
